Day 1
Traveled down to Myrtle Beach with Brooke’s Mom and Dad and her little brother. The traffic was good all the way down. Stopped off at a Wendy’s on the way down and I got one of those Wild Berry shakes I have to say that Wendy’s has a very tasty concoction with that invention. Still have pain in my ear so Brooke was thoughtful and called the Doctor for me and they are calling in some medication for me I really hate feeling under the weather during a vacation. We arrived at the Anderson Ocean Club and Spa at four in the afternoon.
The hotel is affiliated with the Hilton so it took us a few minutes of detours before we realized that this was the place I am going to take a picture of the sign so that you can see how one could be confused by the sign.
The room is nice it’s a three bedroom suite on the 19th floor. Their is carpet and tile throughout and granite countertops. Snazzy. There is also a panoramic view of the oceanfront from the balcony.
We finished the day by going to Walmart for some things and ate dinner at Logans Steakhouse.
Day 2
Last night we had some issues with the A/C in the unit. The desk sent someone up here with a bug spray can and he soaked it with warm water and said that the unit had frozen but all was good now. I sure hope that it does because it was quite warm last night and Sylar was angry all night because of it.
Helped take all the beach equipment down and set up the Quick Shade we got from Lowe’s. The tent is so nice because you don’t have to dig down in the ground like you do with the umbrellas and it has metal stakes(which are pointy) and penetrate the ground easily. I did not spend the day down with them as I was letting the Cipro take effect but heard from Brooke that Sylar had a blast in the water. A little later went down and assisted with bring the beach equipment back to the room. When everyone got back upstairs the boys Jordan and Brandon discovered that the room beside us had a pink bong on their balcony(illegal activities at the beach anyone?)which created some amusing dialogue for a few moments. The suite was still quite warm even after us being on the beach all day so the hotel finally sent an HVAC guy to check out the issue. The HVAC guy found 3/4″ worth of dryer lint stuck to the cooling coils! He said this is a common issue in the beach hotel world and promptly fixed the issue. Cool air again! We left thereafter for dinner.
For dinner we went out to Mellow Mushroom. There was a 50 minute wait so Danny and me went to the bar and had a few drinks. Danny had a New Belgium 1554 and a RJ Rockers Son of a Peach. I had a Rogue Dead Guy Ale and a Highland Cattail Peak. After an hour we were seated and had their Supreme Pizza which is always amazing!
Returned to the hotel to find the room freezing. We were elated as it is very hard to sleep in a hot room.
Day 3
Awoke this morning and had a craving for a beach omelet, the omelets are good in some of the Myrtle Beach family restaurants.Mentioned this to Brooke’s mom and she agreed and told me about a place within walking distance from the hotel. We all got dressed and headed down. When we got to the lobby Danny and Lisa forgot something and headed back to the room to get it and left us down in the lobby. Brooke, Sylar and me were on the street and saw a restaurant across the street and assumed it was the restaurant that her mom had mentioned earlier and proceeded to get a table. The hostess informed us that it was a buffet and took our drink orders. So me and decided and ordered the buffet. Not long after that the waitress informed us that the breakfast buffet would only be in place for another 15 minutes and that we needed to get a plate if we were going to get something. What we should have done is politely told the server “…thanks, but no thanks” and paid for the drinks that she had brought. We instead got a plate only to see her parents heading up the street to another restaurant. We finally got her parents back to our restaurant which wasn’t the best food and they watched us finish and then we went to the restaurant that she had actually recommended which was lots better than the restaurant that we had just left. I got my omelet and Brooke got a water. The omelet was amazing so we are planning to go there tomorrow morning.
After a trip to Walmart with Danny we hauled all the beach equipment back down to the beach. I was feeling a lot better today so I went out with the rest of them for a few hours.
For dinner we went out to Broadway at the Beach for some appetizers and such. We ended up at the Key West Club for dinner Brooke, Lisa and Danny had Potato skins and Portobella fries and I had,for the first time, crawfish. The potato skins and portobella fries were awesome and while I liked the crawfish there is just not a lot of meat and Brooke said I was eating “cockroaches”. Thats ok I think next time I will order the lobster next time I want shellfish that way at least I become full off of my meal.
We were in the motion to get Sy a “Build-A-Bear” but he was getting fussy so we left.
Day 4
Went to Spring house restaurant this morning and that was a great breakfast! It is a little Greek restaurant and if you are in North Myrtle I highly recommend it.
We all got breakfast and headed back to the room we are trying to head out to the beach a little early this morning. I laid out on the beach for a few hours but had to come in to feed Sylar(with the help of Danny) and give him a bath as he was getting overheated and still has the salt water on his little legs from the photo opportunity this morning.
Everyone out at the water brought the equipment in and we got ready to go out to dinner. We found this awesome seafood place on Ocean boulevard.
Day 5
Packed up and got everything in the vehicles by 11:20 went to the Spring House restaurant again and had our farewell breakfast. Got on the road and four hours later we had dinner in Denton, NC at the seafood restaurant Skipper’s. All in all a good trip hate that it is over but hopefully we will do it again soon.
